Hepatitis-B Vaccine Elovac-B® r DNA launched September 25th

Human Biologicals Institute (HBI) a division of Indian Immunologicals Limited and a wholly owned subsidiary of the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) based in Hyderabad has been the pioneer in providing immunity at affordable prices. HBI launched “Operation Abhay”, meaning protection and freedom from fear with the objective to market affordable world-class vaccines and biologicals for human use. 

Under “Operation Abhay”, HBI introduced Abhayrab, India’s first purified vero cell anti-rabies vaccine. Abhayrab is the most affordable anti rabies vaccine in the country. It is after the launch of Abhayrab, that the age old nerve tissue vaccine was replaced with a modern vaccine.The other products launched under the umbrella brand “Abhay” are Abhay RIG – Equine rabies immunoglobulins, AbhayVac3 – live attenuated vaccine for measles, mumps and rubella. Each of these vaccines have the highest degree of potency, safety and efficacy.

HBI is concerned with protection against disease, not merely vaccines or vaccination. This involves patient education, supply of vaccine in proper cold chain, assessing the need of treatment in rabies, proper administration of vaccines by a qualified medical practitioner, follow post vaccination serum titers etc.. All this is provided by Abhay Clinic – One Stop Vaccination Centre.  

HBI moves one step ahead to extend its mission of “Immunity made Affordable” with the launch of Elovac-B® recombinant DNA (r DNA) Hepatitis-B vaccine across the country. The vaccine is indigenously manufactured by HBI in its state-of-art plant at Gachibowli, Hyderabad, inaugurated and dedicated to the nation by our Hon’ble President Shri A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.  

Shri K. ROSAIAH – Hon’ble Minister for Finance, Planning, Health, Medical & Family Welfare, Legislative Affairs and Small Savings of Govt. of AP has launched the product and dedicate it to nation on 24th September at Hyderabad. 

Elovac-B® offers best purity and hence ensures best protection. The purity of Hepatitis-B surface antigen exceeds the purity specification provided by regulatory authorities. The purity of our brand is more than 99% which is higher than the other brands available in the market. This will ensure that the person who is administered with Elovac-B® is well protected against Hepatitis-B on completion of full course. Elovac-B® is launched at an appropriate time when the Government is considering of the inclusion of Hepatitis-B vaccine in Extended Program of Immunization (EPI). 

 To market the brand, HBI aims for complete immunization of the masses against the killer disease Hepatitis-B and not just vaccination. HBI’s focus will be to educate the masses on completion of full course of three doses for complete protection against Hepatitis-B. HBI will carry out immunization campaigns under strict supervision of medical practitioner and will take suitable measures to inform the general public about the complete immunization and the necessity for complete protection through three doses. Elovac-B® will be available in 0.5 ml and 5.0 ml vials.
