Description:
Megavac-6
contains:
Canine Distemper:
Live
attenuated vaccine strain of canine distemper
virus is grown on a continuous cell line and
presented in a freeze dried form. Each dose
contains > 103 TCID50 live
attenuated canine distemper virus. Continuous
passage of the virus in tissue culture
resulted in a highly attenuated virus vaccine
of high purity, completely homogeneous and
without side effects on susceptible pups. The
safety of the vaccine is confirmed by
intracerebral injection into susceptible pups
and mice.
Canine
Infectious Laryngotracheitis:
Live canine adenovirus type-2 (CAV-2),
causative organism of infectious
laryngotracheitis is grown on a continuous
cell line and presented in a freeze dried
form. Each dose contains > 103
TCID50 live attenuated CAV-2. The
complete safety of CAV-2 strain and the cross
protective properties with CAV-1, responsible
agent for canine contagious hepatitis, has led
to the choice of CAV-2 strain for hepatitis
vaccine. The safety
of vaccine is confirmed by intravenous
injection into sensitive pups.
Canine Parvo Virus:
Live
attenuated canine parvovirus is grown on a
continuous cell line and presented in a freeze
dried form. Each dose contains > 103
TCID live attenuated canine 50 parvo virus.
Parvo virus strain of canine origin is
attenuated by continuous passages on cell
cultures. The safety of this vaccine is
determined by testing on susceptible pups and
bitches at different stages of pregnancy.
The potency of canine
parvovirus vaccine is tested by injecting into
seronegative pups and antibodies are checked
by haemaglutination inhibition (HI) test and
by challenge of the pups with virulent virus
after a single injection of vaccine.
Vaccinated dogs show no clinical or
haematological symptoms. No virus excretion is
observed in the faeces. Megavac-P can be used
to immunize puppies with low titers of
maternal antibodies.
Canine Contagious Hepatitis:
Canine contagious hepatitis virus (Canine
adenovirus type -1) is grown on a continuous
cell line and inactivated in such a manner
that the virus loses its infectivity and
retains its immunogenicity.
Leptospira:
Leptospira
canicola and icterohaemorrhagiae are grown in
a suitable medium and inactivated in such a
manner that the culture loses its infectivity
and retains its immunogenicity. The
inactivated antigen incorporated in the
vaccine contains > 2 x108
bacteria each.

Administration:
Freeze dried vaccines
may be reconstituted with either aqueous
vaccines or sterile diluent just before use.
Shake the reconstituted vaccines before
use.Vaccine should be administered observing
aseptic precautions.

Dosage:
1ml intramuscularly or
subcutaneously for all the vaccines.

Caution:
Vaccinate only healthy
animal. Malnutrition, helminth infestaiton,
administration of immunosuppressive agents
(like corticosteroids,radiation-therapy) will
supress immune response to the vaccine.

Transport
and storage:
The optimum
transport and storage temperature is between
2°C and 8°C. Antigenicity of the vaccine
deteriorates if the temperature is allowed to
fluctuate beyond this range. The rate of
deterioration depends on both temperature and
time.
At no stage should the
vaccine be permitted to freeze.
